Mental Anguish?

What slick lawyer got ahold of them?

Now, I realize that finding something in a can of green beans that doesn't belong there, even if it IS a snake head, would give a person a start.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, a lawsuit was filed for that very reason. You can read about it here.

But the whole family suffered mental anguish? Oh, come ON. First of all, I have doubts that every member of the family was in the kitchen when the green bean can was opened.

What kind of mental anguish did they get from this encounter? Have they been subjected to night terrors? Loss of appetite? Inability to operate a can opener as a result?

Good grief, if it would have been my house, I'd have been grossed out for a couple of minutes, then I'd probably have called the family in to check it out. We'd have built it into some sort family joke, and would have had a lot of fun telling other people about it. But sue? Highly unlikely!

Wonder what these folks would think if they realized that food manufacturers have a built in percentage rule on the amount of hair, feces, and insects are allowed in the manufacturing and processing of the food we eat.

I have to admit that when I heard about how many insects and rat feces are in peanut butter, it kept me from eating it for a couple of years.

But, I think I can handle the idea of finding a foreign object in my processed food, dead and sterilized far better than I can handle an encounter with a garden spider dancing in my tomato plants.

I think this one falls under "frivolous lawsuit" and is a shady attorney's idea of a way to get a little extra income without working very hard.
