First of all, I've got to thank Robin's daughter for having this subject line pop into my head, and consequently, making my spouse laugh during his usual grumpy morning getreadyforwork routine. So...thanks Casey!
I really don't need my back in total spasm today, but there you have it. I have NO idea what I've done to the thing - my guess is the out of the ordinary twisting and turning I was doing when helping Dawn move to her new place coupled with having to fit into some tight spots in patient rooms yesterday has done the deed. I made Robert laugh this morning when I went to retrieve his towel for him and my back decided to spasm, and I accompanied it with an outburst. I thought of Casey's Tourette's question, (okay, so my mind works in odd ways) and said to Robert in a mournful tone, "I sound like I have Tourette's."
So, Casey will be happy to know that I can come up with some unexpected outbursts, quite vocal, and sometimes quite colorful. I need to learn to swear in another language or two. I'm realizing that if I need a phrase, I have to stick to English. My French swearing is too tame, my Spanish isn't appropriate, and my VietNamese doesn't roll off my tongue comfortably enough. And the Muslim women were pretty much horrified when I asked them to teach me Arabic curse words. I think I'll ask Anne - she's from Kenya and speaks Swahili. And the only Swahili phrase I know is Amote (Ah-MOE-tay) which means, I love you. And, quite frankly, I don't feel fond enough of my back at the moment; loving sentiments to a body part which is betraying me is not in my current vocabulary top ten list.
I have to go shopping today. Gotta finish buying the Christmas gifts. I'm going to have to suck in my words while out in the public domain. Just the challenge I need!
So, if you read this over the next few hours, please send kind thoughts my way. And, if you hear of a woman gone berserk in an Iowa mall, please refer the cops to this blog, so they'll know it was just temporary insanity that made me do it....
