Hard to believe...

...it's been 25 years. John Lennon was shot and killed on this day in 1980.

To many of us old hippies, it was a personal loss. Many of our lives revolved around the music of the Beatles, and continued with each member after they split to go separate ways.

Do you remember where you were when you heard the news? I was in the parking lot of the grocery store - had just pulled into the parking space. I think I sat in the car for at least 20 minutes, too stunned to do much more than piece memories of songs with events in my life. Even now many of his songs evoke those same memories.

I thought it was neat to see what they were doing in Liverpool to commemorate the anniversary. You can check out the link at The Scotsman here.

Thanks for the link Kate, that's one helluva wonderful tribute to such a great artist!!

Yup, I was on the freeway when I heard it on the car radio.....and I was also too stunned to say or do anything but cry. Thank God I wasn't driving.....

Have you heard his son Julian sing at all? He has his father's voice EXACTLY. It's downright eerie!

Yes, I've seen Julian sing on some tv shows. Not only does his voice sound like his dad's...he resembles his dad a whole lot.

I was at my mom's for the weekend and was sitting the livingroom playing with my new kitten when I heard the news.

What a loss. The man was truly a visionary and his loss is still felt.

I'm afraid this old former hippie doesn't remember at all.

Never really cared much for Lennon, so his death affected me no more than any other random shooting.
