And the results are in....

We had a very nice day, today. We gathered together, Lyn, Jared and the kids, Vaughn and Patrick, Kirk and Marsha, my friend Dawn (who would have spent the day alone otherwise), and Robert and I. Lyn provided the house - the person with the little kids gets to choose! And, it's always nice to be able to let the babies get their naps in at the regular time and keep the schedule as much as possible.

Luke was a riot. Within five minutes of our arrival, he went up to someone (don't remember who at the moment) and heaved a big sigh and said, "I weely hate the hawidays." I just cracked up, as did everyone else. Of course, at that moment in time we were trying to get things organized so we could sit around the tree and begin opening gifts - I think the comment came after he'd been told once again that he had to wait to open his presents till we were all ready. That's a tough call for a three year old!

Robert and I opened our gifts earlier in the morning. He did much better buying for me this year than I did for him; I bought him some clothes that he liked, but we decided to exchange the pants for a smaller size, and the sweater for a larger one. But, he loved the little statue of a black and white Springer Spaniel asleep in a dog bed. It really resembles Via a lot.

His gift to me was a membership card at Barnes and Noble. It never rains but it pours - I got another B&N card from Marsha and Kirk, too! And, he found a replacement book for one that I'd lost when a pipe burst in the basement and destroyed my bookshelf. So, it was nice to know that I have that book once again!

Most of the rest of my gifts came from my "practical" list. I did get one CD - none of the ones on my list, but welcome just the same: The Millenium Collection by Donna Summer. It will be fun to listen to for certain!

And, Vaughn made me a counted cross stitch. It's a thing of beauty - it's a technique called "blackwork"; I loved to do it myself before my cataract got too bad. This is of a Celtic cross - I'll take a picture of it and post it in a day or two so you can see it.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day with gifts that told you you were loved, and assure you that people really want to see you make it through the winter!

And now, I'm off to find a turkey sandwich - leftovers are also a thing of wonder after a family feast!

Wow, I'm the first to comment! Such a deal! *grin*

I'm glad you had a good day, Kate. I cracked up at Luke -- he's a natural-born smartass, that one is! *grin* Gotta love him.

Glad I am, too, that ye received some nice gifts. I've nae doubt the B&N card will come in handy. Oh, gods, ye'll disappear into the maw of the beast and no one will see ye for the next 40 year. 'Tis yer ain version of the Land of the Fae, lass.

*sigh* If I only could disappear into the Land of the Fae...I think I would.
