A blessed Yule to all of you who have been kind enough to read this blog in the last few months. I deeply appreciate the kindness and friendship everyone has given to me since I've joined the blogging community.
For those of you who are not Pagan, what is most commonly known as Winter Solstice is also called Yule. It is "Christmas" for many who follow certain nature-based religions.
I spent the evening at my friend Dawn's new house. Kirk and his lady, Marsha, and Frankie joined the celebration as well.
Now, understand, many of us also celebrate Christmas. Why not have two celebrations? So, gift-giving is optional on Yule, but those of us who are serious about the holiday generally exchange small gifts with each other. This would be the time when I'd exchange gifts with my spouse if he were Pagan. As he's not, we'll exchange gifts with each other on Christmas day with the family.
Frankie had given me a Yule gift earlier today, as we went to lunch together. Her gift from me is still in progress; I'll take her gift to her on Christmas Eve - and it will be a great excuse to see the new puppy!
Marsha and Kirk found a charming little plaque that will fit into the 'witchy' decor in my office - it has a small broom on it with a saying of "Are you cleaning or going for a ride?" *laughs* Actually, I'm wondering if they were hinting that I should do more cleaning and less riding!
I made big batches of Mexican Hot Chocolate and a homemade conglomeration of trail mix for each of the partygoers. It fit within my wish for them - "May you never hunger or thirst". The simple spell I did invoked wishes of health, wealth and happiness for them. For those of you who might be leery of the word "spell", please know that a spell is nothing more than a prayer, designed to channel energies to create positive change.
I have much to do in the next few days. I will probably limit my internet time to very early morning or very late evening. But, know I'll be thinking of you all and wishing you the most wonderful Christmas season ever!
May the darkest night give you quiet and peace, and make you ready to welcome the light once again.
Kate

I love your witch present, LOL! Yes, it was winter solstice yesterday, I assume that marks your holiday Kate??
A blessed Yule to you as well, and may you never hunger or thirst either...... talk to you soon! :)
Yes, Jude, since I tend to follow an odd combination of the solar and lunar calendars and little of the secular holidays, Winter Solstice is my Christmas. We actually consider Solstice "Yule" and December 25 "Christmas". But, as I also am a part of the world population, I respect the traditions of others and welcome their celebrations as well.
