Just one more day in my six day stretch of work. I'm not crazy about working that many days in a row because I feel that a person's edge tends to blur when there's no break. And of course, tomorrow I'm assigned to the burn/trauma unit, so I'm just going to hope that there are only 3 patients (or less!) to be drawn on that floor tomorrow. That's all there were today, anyway.
Thanks to the Auld Scot, I have word processing software again! Thank you again, dear Scottie! Now it's back to work I go, letting the words drizzle out of my wee brain onto a computer screen. It will make my life far more pleasurable to have *ease* in my writing! It was pointed out to me that I *could* use that old fashioned method of paper and pen, but you know...I've just gotten spoiled by computer writing.
But, as I loaded the software today, I realized that I'd not reloaded my printer software since my hard drive crash. And...I can't find my printer software!!!! I can be a slob about my office, but I'm generally very careful about putting away my manuals and CD's and such, but the software isn't in its folder. Maybe it's a good thing, though...my incentive to go through the piles o'paper(read "junk") on my office floor became a much higher priority as a result! Of course, my printer is a combo, fax-printer-copier so the only thing I can't do with it right now is actually print something from the computer, but that also means I can't load my digital pictures, either! So...if I want to share pictures with you all, that'll give me even MORE incentive to make the junk diminish in here!
Anyway, I'm just about done with the baby afghan I'm making for my pregnant co-worker. Her baby is due on the 8th, so I'm trying to beat the stork, so I think my sign off will be early tonight and I'm going to try to get a bit closer to finishing it! It'll keep my mind occupied on another lonesome Saturday night!

We have a lot in common Kate. I write and I'm in the process of crocheting a baby blanket for a co-worker as well. What kind of stuff do you write?
That's a lovely gift to give for the new baby, Kate. :) I hope you do beat the stork!
We have a tradition in my family. Every new baby gets a "nanny" (afghan) from each of the grandmas. And then every few years we get more of them. It's like the best gift ever! Also when someone new comes into the family their first 'official' christmas gift is a nanny.
I love to write, Kate. Just with being sick the last couple of weeks i've done nothing with it. It's a wonderful release of daily stress and tension.
Melanie asked:

I'm a former newspaper reporter, Mel. It didn't pay worth a darn years ago and I left writing for a long time. When I was encouraged to come back to it, it came back, surprisingly enough as poetry, so I guess I consider myself a poet first and foremost. But, I freelance, and am currently working on some fiction. Or rather - I am NOW that I have software again! YAY!
What kind of writing do you do?

I hope so too! I teased Rabab today; her baby looks as though he is crawling back *up* her ribcage instead of figuring out where the door is...just like a boy huh? They refuse to ask for directions even before they're born! LOL

I love that tradition, Tracey! One question though...do the afghans stay at baby size, or do you get upgraded to adult afghans eventually? ;)

Cheeky! :D They get upgraded in size. They also get customized with favorite colors/patterns, etc.
At last count I have five or size kingsized ones, and Monstergirl has three or four of 'em in various sizes.

Romance fiction for the ladies. I agree with Tracey. It is a nice release for me as well.

Books? Short stories? Where can we find your stuff?
Right now all my stories are on my laptop. I keep telling myself that I am going to send them off to a publisher, but I keep getting cold feet. A friend of mine is helping me, she has published several books, so she is trying to get me encouraged.
