I grabbed a glass of water and walked outside into my garden (which is gradually being weeded 15 minutes at a time). While admiring the morning light I noticed someone else working hard.
Just near the front gate was a beautiful web filled with shining dew drops. It was like a jewel in the sunshine. There in the middle of the web was Mrs. Spider gathering together dewdrops until they became large enough for gravity to take over and fall from the web. She kept up her flinging until the whole middle of the web was clear of dewdrops. Then when the centre of her web was clear she gave it a twang with her legs and sent dewdrops flying.

Isn't that cool? I'll have to pay more attention to spider webs in the future.

Although I hate insects I admit to the awesome beauty of some of the webs. Just not on MY property, please and thanks. ;)
I love to watch the orb weavers here. Every web is unique to the spider and the spiders themselves are always so colorful. As long as they stay out of my house and off my porch, life is good!
I'm very nearsighted and every so often we have a spider web her way down from the ceiling; for some reason they usually hover in front of my face, eliciting screams for someone to come get the f****** spider out of the shower!
Son Kirk has no fondness for spiders either. One of these days I'll have to "weave" the story about his best spider adventure ever. LOL
The last house we were in before moving to this current town had one of those built in overhead lights in the bathroom. For about a week, every time I came out of the shower there was a HUGE, albino lookin' spider hanging by a web directly in front of my face! *shudders* It's about the only thing I just can not deal with in life. Yuck!
Okay that's it, I'm getting the heeby-jeebies so I'm outta here!! LOL!!
