He REALLY has foot in mouth disease

Pat Robertson Sticks Foot in Mouth again
Pat Robertson warns Pa. town of disaster

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Thursday, November 10, 2005

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce "intelligent design" - the belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power - as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."

Eight families had sued the district, claiming the policy violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The federal trial concluded days before Tuesday's election, but no ruling has been issued.

Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences."

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

I love the comment about how we can't keep sticking our finger in God's eye. It reminds me of the Three Stooges.

Here's your chance to vote....If Pat Robertson is one of the Stooges, which one would he be? And, who would you pick for the other two Stooges?

I dinna' think I'll insult the real 3 Stooges by naming this eejit one. Instead, I think he richly deserves his ain group -- call it the Feckin' Eejits, if ye will. Ol' Shrub, Kill-em-all Cheney, Rove(r), and Condy, to name a few, would be part of his group. The problem is, 'tis not a comedy group, not really. 'Tis a sad joke on the American people, even if they DID elect 'em.

I'll quit ranting for now. This all makes me too sad.

Ye ken, Robertson described his god as "tolerant and loving." 'Tis far too bad Mr. Robertson himself won't emulate those qualities a wee bit, isn't it? Actually, to me, his god is one of the bloodiest, most hateful gods humans have conjured up in all their sad history. Christians like Robertson call themselves "God-fearing." 'Tis well they should, given their god's propensity to murder.

Good heavens. I liked the finger in the eye thing too..... well I don't know who I'd vote for the 3 Stooges unless it was you, me, and Trace. You know, just cuz we're a little nuts. ;)

And, "conjured" is the key word here, methinks. Throughout history, men like Robertson found the need to make their Deity a fearsome thing. Why is that, do you suppose? Yet, he also describes the same Deity as "tolerant and loving". I have trouble with that concept. If one is tolerant and loving, what should be feared?

Since I wear a white lab coat when I work, maybe I should hum that tune when I get assigned to the psych ward? Or, do you think they'd keep me if I did? LOL
