A Mini Miracle Has Occurred

It may not seem like much to most people, but for me it's monumental AND a miracle.

You see, I have spent most of the day slogging through Office Swamp, and have found that under the shifting papers, CD's, pictures, and other assorted stuff there is a....*looks around and whispers reverently*....a FLOOR.

Sure, there are still a couple of major piles o' stuff left, but the new storage cubes are not jammed full. The recycling bin is half full from all the papers that were just accumulating and breeding in quiet moments.

But, I was able to bring my cedar chest up from the basement and put it under the window - the cats will love that, I'm sure! And, it will make it so much more convenient when I need to put something in the thing.

The rug I bought at LammasFest is finally laid out flat instead of jammed up against the bookcases. The dogs will love it when they figure out they can snooze within sight of my desk.

There's still a lot to do, for all my bookshelves need to be gone through, sorted and dusted; I'm sure there are going to be books that can be donated to the local library's book sale. My desk is still a disaster, but it does get weeded through on a more regular basis.

But, I won't have to be afraid if someone walks by the door and glances in. I won't have to run ahead of them to make sure the thing is closed off to curious eyes.

With a few more hours, I may actually get through it all and be able to rethink my plan for writing time every day. It's amazing to actually feel so much less stress when I walk into this room.

I certainly didn't get into town today as I'd planned to get Isabelle her birthday gifts. Her party isn't until mid-afternoon, so I'll have time to do it in the morning. It will mean an earlier wake-up call, but boy, is it worth it!

Congrats on unearthing the floor! =) We go through that every time we move. Our office is the breeding ground for accumulated papers and miscellany.

That's a HUGE accomplishment Kate, and I know what it's like to feel so good about something like that!
