Accomplishment...sort of...

I'm very proud of myself today.

I'm in the process of accomplishing something I have been trying to do for a year with no success.

I'm learning to knit socks....errr...a sock. If I manage the first one, I'll go for a pair. LOL

With socks you have to use five needles: four of the needles are holding the yarn in a rectangle so you can knit in the round - I know... it doesn't sound like it makes any sense whatsoever...and the fifth needle is used for knitting each rectangle side onto which clears *that* needle for use.

At any rate, the house was quiet today so I sat down with the instructions and really looked them over and very carefully started in. And, for some reason it's working. I'm actually getting cooperation from my fingers which, in the past, have refused to find any way to negotiate more than two needles at a time.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy socks? You would be correct in the assumption that it's not only easier, but cheaper too.

But, if you're addicted to yarn, you've probably already seen the amazing variety of beautiful yarn available for socks. And, I can't resist the urge to buy it.

I'll get a few more rows done on my sock and take a picture of it tomorrow for you to see. I know that will thrill the socks off all of you! *grin*

Great job Kate :)

Personally I have no aptitude for those types of things, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying all the wondrous things that my Mom makes with her needles! ;)

Wow I've never attempted socks or anything quite as difficult as that! Looking forward to seeing pics of this Kate. :-)
