I know this stuff probably bores the hell out of everyone, but I'm talkin' about it anyway! *grin*
Had my first periodental appointment today. What a blast it was getting to the appointment - we were in the midst of another winter storm, and 6 cars were in the ditch on my way into town. Thank the gods for 4-wheel drive! Actually, all parts of the road that were east/west were great, but the north/south roads just plain sucked.
Anyway, got to the office, filled out all those necessary forms and then the fun began.
A young man whose name was BJ took me to my execution chamber and explained what was going on. No major work, it was just to get two more x-rays and have the dentist do a check and evaluation of my poor mouth.
Why, oh WHY are the only flavors of numbing gel cherry flavored or pina colada? YUCK YUCK YUCK!
Anyway, I apologized in advance that I'd probably be a wimp. They had already been warned by my dentist that I was quite sensitive to anything going near my gag reflexes. Maybe that's what they thought, but what created all the pain for me was the film card cutting into the roof of my mouth. Big difference as far as I'm concerned.
The bottom line to all this is that after the check up, the periodentist thinks that she will be able to save all my remaining molars, thus only creating a need for partial plates for both top and bottom front teeth. If I understand that correctly, I would not have to wait several months to complete the process. We'll see. I have two appointments scheduled, one in March, one in April; they will do one side of my mouth at a time. And, thank all the gods they use nitrous oxide upon request. I'll be able to get through the procedure that way.

I get nauseated from the gas. And not just a little woozy, but the full blown, RUN for the restroom, hands over mouth, cover your shoes i'm coming thru ickies!
I hope that they can make this as painless and easy as possible on you Kate :)
Yep I can't abide being drugged up, I'll panic and then puke. I hope it all goes easier than you think Kate. Good luck!
