I have an interview for the NICU position next Tuesday at 9:30. I'll be interviewed by my boss (two steps up the ladder) and the man who would be my supervisor in the new unit.
My former boss (whose place was taken by WV) told me that she thought I would like the new position very well; she said that working in NICU requires a whole lot of patience (DUH!) and knowing how to communicate and get along well with people.
It makes me nervous. People keep talking to me like they expect me to get the job and I'm superstitious enough to think it's an automatic jinx, and at the same time I wonder if they know something I don't. And, then I start to get a little hopeful, thinking they DO know something I don't and I shouldn't worry, but then I realize there is a part of me that will be very disappointed if I blow the interview and NOT get the job!
Argh. Times two.
I did go to the peds unit with my work pal, Diana, today. So I did some heelsticks to make sure I remembered how. No problem. I was able to concentrate on the job at hand and tune out the crying. It's funny, though...the babies don't mind the stick, but they absolutely hate having their heels squeezed.

I am sure you will do just fine in the interview Kate. They'd be foolish NOT to hire you!
Thank you Tracey! I'm already mulling over some of the usual interview questions...the "what are your strengths and weaknesses" sort. Ugh. I hate those, but they sure seem to base a lot on what you say to those!
It depends on what they're looking for. Sometimes the state wants the follower who will meekly do whatever they're told. While I will do that to a point, I'm not too much into that "herd" mentality that the state seems so fond of.
I am positive you will do just fine! How could they turn you down? You're the best Vamp for the job ;)
So, let's just call it "Interview with a Vampire."
Couldn't resist...
Ooohhhh....... thats BAAAAAAADDDD! LOL
Good luck to you Kate, I'm sure you'll get it! :-)
Thanks, Jude!
