Well...I hope this *new* is not the beginning of the rest of the year! LOL
I called in sick today. I woke up and everything just plain *hurt*. So, after letting the powers-that-be know they shouldn't expect me, I went back to bed and slept for an additional five hours. Felt soooooo good to sleep myself out.
Anyway, I don't think there is anything particularly wrong, just adapting myself to eating decently and making the old body move. I think the problem was pure shock to my system!
I lazed around most of the morning, finally showering very late. Headed into town in the afternoon; I'd neglected to remember to renew my car tags, so thought I'd better do that before I found some flashing lights behind me some morning at 5 a.m. Drove smoothly through downtown Iowa City and where was the first red light I had to stop for? Why...in front of the cop shop, of course!!! Thankfully, I managed to slip by quietly.
My next stop was at the University Bookstore. Now, one of the few perks I do get as an employee is the ability to purchase some basic software at very low prices. So, since I need Power Point for teaching, I picked up MS Office for just a wee bit more than pocket change.
But, as usual, things can't be easy, and I am having one hellova time getting it to download without a hassle. Keeps telling me I need a certification key which I can't find. Product key, yes, but they seem to be two different things. *sighs*
The scales tip to the "hate computers" side...
It was a beautiful day. Temperatures were in the high 40's, low 50's and not a snowflake in sight. I guess Colorado got most of our share. We've been through quite a chunk of our normal cold weather season, and it's been so mild people are still wearing shorts some days. The dogs spent quite a bit of time outdoors today. If I had been smarter, I'd have done the same thing! Does doing errands count toward being outside?
I've got a pile of mail to read, and have barely glanced at the daily newspaper, but if I don't get to it today, so be it. I'll catch up eventually. Besides, one of the things in the mail was....
a seed catalog...oh, the joy of looking at the beautiful flowers and dreaming of fresh grown veggies!
And, one of the best things about today? Why, it's The Auld Scot's birthday! According to what he told me when first we met back in 1999, this should be somewhere around his 964th birthday! Happy Birthday, TW! *lifts a glass of Glen Morangie in celebration*
