Bright spots through the day

Thought I'd share a couple of pics of the local wildlife.

Okay, so it's not all that impressive to some, but I love to look out the window and see that in spite of my hesitation to brave the arctic blast, the wee creatures are still going about life as usual.


This is one of the cute little downey woodpeckers that frequent the feeder (Sorry about the neighbor's ugly pickup in the background!)


We don't see this guy very often, but his bright head captured our attention. This is a red-bellied woodpecker.

Great photo catch, Kate. It always feels like a visit from royalty when birds with snazzy colors come by. It's unfair to the earthtone birds, but what can you do?
