I think I've got 'em. It's not surprising at this time of the year. The stress of the holidays is past, and there's nothing to do...not really. But, last week was busy, and I was trying on a "new fit" to my life - spend less time at the computer doing nothing, utilize the computer time I do take more constructively, such as, designate only two email times per day, designate a certain amount of time at least three times a week for writing, and get back on the FlyLady system for keeping my household and myself under control.
HMPH. Good plan, till I depressed myself when I renewed my drivers license.
I was very careful, knowing that there would be a new picture on a newly renewed plastic card. I did my hair carefully, wore a bright turtleneck, etc. I have trouble lying, so the first problem came when I had to fill out the renewal form and figured out that my weight number was up 25# from five years ago. And if that wasn't enough, the picture on the thing totally looks like something the cat either drug in or puked up. Depressing...just....depressing. It's colored my last few days far more than I want to admit. But, I'll work out of it, I'm sure. Yes, I know I should say workout but right now my more immediate concern is how much I hated my hair. It looks great in person. But if pictures never lie, then maybe I'm deluding myself and it looks like crap. So, now I'm debating on giving up on my thought of growing it to "locks of love" specs and just getting about 4 inches cut from it now. *sighs* We'll see how I feel about it in a couple of days. But for now, I'm going to be in a funk and beat myself up for awhile about letting myself get into this horrible physical shape in the first place!
I'll try to pick up the knitting needles and knit a row or two (or five) instead of heading for the pantry. Maybe I can convince myself that if I still *need* whatever it was I was gonna stuff down my gullet after that, I'll deserve the treat.
Or maybe I'll begin thinking about adding another hobby to the mix. Yesterday was Craft Circle, and this month's craft was learning how to do stained glass. My son, Kirk taught it. He's a good teacher, and of course I like to think there's some genetic understanding involved, other than I've already talked about stained glass with him as he learned through the years. But, I'd never seen him work his craft, only had been the recipient of some of his pieces.
So, yesterday was a real treat for me. There were eight of us making the attempt. I think I was the only person who "bled". Figures, huh? Cut myself and didn't even know it.
Of course, I made a shamrock out of some beautiful glass. Go figure, huh? But, I'd never cut glass, nor used a grinder, nor a soldering gun. It was awesome. I loved it. I want to do more! I sucked at soldering. But, in my own defense, I was doing it as Kirk told me, and was trying to use my left hand to use the soldering iron, and my right to hold the solder. Never occurred to me that Kirk is ambidexterous with a lot of things. Duh, Mom. And in watching others work after I was finished with my piece, I figured out some ways I think I can make my next piece look a lot better! We'll see. I'll take a picture of it and post it in the next couple of days, when I have a bright day that will show the color off better. Promise not to look at the rotten soldering job, okay?
'Bout the only other news I've got is there's updated news on my trainee, T, and our calico cat, Bree, had an adventure a couple of days ago which terrified her and cracked us up after we got over the stunned surprise of her mad dash through the house. But, I'll save those for another day, as I've got to head for bed to prepare for that 4 a.m. wake up call.
Talk to y'all soon.

After the hustle and chaos of the holidays I think it's easy for anyone to get into a funk. Look at me,home for over a week and i've still not done any more on my projects here. Bad me!
I think license photos are meant to be bad. I've yet to see a good one from anyone.
Why don't you put up a pic of your hair so we can all see it? I bet it's beautiful! :)
I am looking forward to seeing your stained glass creation Kate! :)
Yes, why don't you post a pic of your hair? From any pics of you I've seen so far, I've envied your thick, long hair. Mine is thin and long. Give some to me, k? ;-)
You know, as I don't drive I don't have a license, but I DO have the equivalent, a Photo I.D. card. It's taken with the very same camera they use for license pictures. And with ours, you can see the shot right on the camera, and if you don't like it they keep re-taking it until you're happy with it. I'm surprised they don't have those in all MVD's now. (or, DMV's, as you call them there)
Trace is right, January blah's are very common. Just hang in there, maybe it would help to do some spell work on yourself??
Oh, I can't wait to hear updates on "T" and what happened to Bree. Hurry up and get back here, woman!! LOL!
As regards the licence picture, could be time for a little Photoshopping. ;-)
