Quiet Week

Overall, it's been a fairly quiet week. I have to admit, though, that I'll be happy to go back to work. Enforced togetherness with Robert is just not a good idea 24/7. And, he has the potential to be home till November 1. He'll recover long before then, but they've left that big of a window open on his disability.

I'll let you know the address to write me if I decide to check myself into the psych ward! LOL

One of the hardest things for Robert is that he's never developed any hobbies other than watching television. So, it's really difficult for him to come up with something to do when he's sick of watching TV. He doesn't think about putting music in the CD player, or reading or any sort of quiet activity. I feel badly for him on that particular level; I've usually got *something* I can do to entertain myself without a whole lot of whining or trouble. What I've been doing, though, when he's bored is taking the remote away from him and switching the channel to something like "Knitty Gritty" on DIY Network. He usually falls asleep and gets a half hour nap out of the deal! LOL

His therapy is going far slower than it did with his first knee two years ago. This time he's carrying a whole lot of edema in his leg and it makes it quite difficult to do the stretches as well as he'd like. He's still in a lot of pain, but mostly at night. Tylenol or ibuprofen keeps the pain in check pretty well during the day, and last night I finally convinced him to quit being a hero (read Pain in the Ass) and take a couple of Vicoden. He did and got four or five hours of uninterrupted sleep, thank the gods - it meant I did, too!

Today I colored my hair; it's now darker for a bit. It's sort of a honey brown. It's okay, but I really do like the blond. But my hairdresser didn't do such a swell job last time and the roots and my blond looked as though they were having a very apparent bipolar episode. I'll probably switch it lighter again a couple of weeks prior to Kirk and Marsha's wedding. Or, maybe not. Maybe I'll just have him highlight it very heavily blond for the wedding and then go light next time around. We'll see!

Are you all bored yet? LOL

I have some pictures to download in the next few days to show you. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'd forgotten I'd taken a cute picture of our calico cat, Bree, and figured you might like to see it. I've also got some pictures of R's leg post-surgery; the bruising from the bleed out he had was *most* impressive!

And, I finally finished the baby blanket I've been working on since somewhere in the late spring. It's a simple one - I was trying out the self-striping yarn to see how I liked it. I think it turned out well. But, I'd rather take pictures of it in the daytime in good light.

Now I'll begin working on Christmas gifts. All my girls want socks now that they've seen the one I've made. I told them I probably should not be approached about socks quite yet, for since I've only got one finished I'm either going to have to knit the other one or cut off one of my feet! I do hope the second sock goes far faster than the first one did. I really enjoyed knitting it. They're highly portable to take places, and the yarn they have these days is so colorful, I'll have fun shopping for yarn, too! I have a friend who says she makes herself a pair of socks every month. I hope I can get fast enough to just get three pairs done in time for Christmas! Amd. of course, now that the baby blanket is finished, I'll have to think of some mindless thing to take to work to keep myself occupied during the slow times.

So, that's just about all my news for the moment! Oh yeah...one other thing! I went with daughter Lyn to see the movie Stardust the other night. It's well worth seeing - I highly recommend it! I even went straight to Barnes and Noble after the movie and bought the book. It will be a "keeper" and the DVD will find its way to my permanent collection when it comes out. If you go see it, let me know what you think!

And now...on to the next thing!

Glad to hear things are somewhat better.
I suggest Robert take his Vicoden every night.
Sending well wishes and hugs.

Any way you could force feed him the vicodin? Maybe put him on an automatic drip for the nights? ;)

I really do hope his edema is gotte under control, so he can do his exercises and speed the healing up.

Before checking into mental health, do yourself a favor... jump in the jeep and head south! My door is always open =)

Well, it sounds like you're keeping busy, anyway. Any chance Robert would learn to knit and help you with the socks? ;-)

Don't suggest she force feed him the vicodin! She might "accidentally" give him an overdose.

I saw Stardust last week. I thought it was good. I love Claire Danes, but thought that role could have been much better cast. Small plot holes, of course. But, over all, yeah, I agree, it will be in my collection at some point. Shakespeare was the best!
