Not recommended for a day off

Ugh. It's my day off today and I get the "pleasure" of being in the dentist's chair once again.

Yep. *sighs* It's time for me to have the other side of my mouth ripped to shreds and pay for the privilege to boot.

Oh, I'm SO not looking forward to this. I still have one spot on the other side that's ouchie tender, and although I can chew on that side, it's not comfortable, nor will it be until the fake teeth get put in to fill the spot where a tooth was removed.

And, believe me, a constant diet of ice cream and soft foods is not my idea of fun, and a person can, in fact, get sick of eating ice cream. I didn't believe that was possible until I had to do it.

So, it's just before 7 a.m. and I'm already whining about my 10:30 appointment. At least that portion of my torture will be finished.

And to make the day even better, R has an appointment to see the orthopedic surgeon today; it looks as though his other knee needs to be replaced. At least he's getting it checked out this time instead of waiting and going through hell for years. But, in the short term, it's really no fun to think about him being home for six weeks while he's healing. I hope he can wait until after Kirk and Marsha's wedding. I have too much going on right now to add his responsibilities onto mine.

See? I told you I was whining! I'll check in later to tell anyone interested how it all went.

12:15 p.m. - I survived; they were ahead of schedule, so they called and asked me to come in at 10 instead of 10:30. And, it's nice that *finally* someone listens to me - I had to laugh to myself at the assistant's gasp when Dr. gave me tons of Novacaine on the first round. The nitrous was ready and waiting for me, they told me when to hold my breath so I wouldn't smell the burning bone. All in all, for dental surgery, it was okay. But, my jaw aches like a sunuvabitch and my face looks like it was injected with WAY too much Botox! LOL I'm gonna hurt when the Novacaine wears off.

I'm gonna try to get my house stuff done before the numbness is gone, then I can lay around and feel sorry for myself!

I feel your pain. I HATE what the dentist does at any given time.

I'm sending you hugs.;)

Whew! Thank goodness it's over. I'm glad you got through it ok and hope by now you're lounging in front of the TV or in bed with a good book. Or outside on the porch with a margarita, or...

:-)

Flo - I only wish that a margarita or two could be indulged in; Not only can I not have alcohol while I'm on antibiotics, I also can't have anything acidic for several days. That means no tomatoes, nor pineapple, nor anything I really enjoy. I'd love to have a nice steak - but so far everything tastes like cardboard. That silly puttly-like stuff that they put over the stitches has a strange taste. Robert suggested that it probably tastes like band-aids. Not that I've ever tasted a band-aid, but yeah...it's really close to that and it makes everything I eat taste either blah or just plain yucky.

Lainy - thanks for the hugs!

Tracey - I did get some rest yesterday; I was pretty much a slug for most of it. I did call in for work again today like I did the last time; I'll be interested to see if Little Mary Sunshine gives me the silent treatment for "taking time off". LOL
