Favorite "Eateries" Meme

In no particular order:

1. Jimmy Jacks - With all the talk about BBQ over on Flo's list, I had to either get off my arse and make ribs or go buy 'em - so without further ado, I went to Jimmy Jacks. It's a "fast food" (sit down) rib joint, and probably as good as you can get in Iowa. The menu is simple: either half or full racks of ribs, coleslaw, baked beans and to-die-for honey cornbread muffins. Yummy, but it isn't KC barbeque, nor Tennessee "pit" BBQ. Oh, the sacrifices!

2. Panera's - Another "fast" food (sit down) place. I'm a real sucker for their French Onion soup. They have a wonderful 1/2 and 1/2 thing where you can get a combo of soup and salad, soup and sandwich, salad and sandwich, etc. Perfect size meal, and then there's always the hope that they have chocolate croissants, or scones to add to the carbo-load on my hips!

3. Bennigans - Oh...the Southwestern egg rolls are my favorite! And, they have a good menu overall. At this point in time they're featuring a bunch of Guinness-glazed foods which are quite tasty! And, for pure decadence, try a chocolate martini. Smooth and very dangerous! LOL

4. Okoboji Bar and Grill - This is a new place for me. It's been around for several years, but I'd always resisted going there; why, I'm not exactly sure. But, I had to go there recently for a meeting and now I'm kicking myself for not making it a regular haunt. The menu is full and varied and I've only begun to touch the surface of sampling all the great things on the menu. They have regular cuisine, but also include Mexican and Chinese.

5. Iquana's - Local Mexican cafe featuring a good menu for "Americanized" Mexican food. Chips and salsa are good - a required thing for me when I go to Mexican restaurants! I've had better margarita's at other places, though.

Okay...now for the "rules"

We'll hit Tequila Harry's when you visit, too, Kate. They fix such a mean margarita that you have to hang out for a few hours or risk a DUI.

We don't have a Bennigan's around anymore. {sniff}

We've got an Atlanta Bread Company that does the 1/2 and 1/2 thing, too--the baked potato soup is yummy.

Wellll, if 'tis a sandwich ye want, then pay a wee visit to your local Jason's Deli and sample their New York Yankee. 'Tis a half-pound of the thinnest, juiciest corned beef ye can find outside of Ireland piled atop pastrami (I believe) and with a slice of Swiss cheese and your choice of mayo or hot mustard between a couple slices of rye bread. Och, 'tis delicious. There's a warning, though: 'tis no' for those tryin' to lose weight or looking for Dim Sum.

You guys!!!! I'm gonna have to stay in KC for at least ten days the next time just to sample all these places!

Of course, that wouldn't break my heart in the least!
