Done but for the Temporaries...

Today marked my last day on the phleb team. I guess I can officially call myself a Lab Tech now. What bothered me the most was the thought I'd have to dismantle my tray, built lovingly and carefully over the last three years. But, not to worry, I'll be working limited hours back on the floor with the team to help out, so my tray is still my tray! Yay! But, I did get to hand off my pager. I don't mind losing that thing in the least! No more blasts out of a sound sleep, at least for a few months!

Monday, when I begin the anguishing journey of hauling my arse out of bed at 3 a.m. to be at work by 4, another phase of education begins.

I'll spend the next two weeks either doing computer work, studying, or working in the Critical Care Lab. Once I have a firm handle on those areas, I'll begin to work my way through the NICU training.

An email today from my new direct boss said that we should have some kind of locker to put our valuables in; I appreciate that because I've had things stolen from my purse before...someone even stole a box of Girl Scout cookies that were in a well-marked bag! How dare someone make off with Thin Mints????

As far as the parking situation I blogged about some time back, the current situation hasn't changed at all. It sounds like Parking and Transportation is still being their obnoxious selves and thus my co-worker and I are leaving the hospital to move our cars at the appropriate time. And though I've not heard so officially, it sounds as though they're not making us move the cars on our lunch hour, either. But, I'll know more on Monday when I actually begin the job.

I have a huge packet of information to go through before Monday. I plan on looking that over this weekend. Should be full of good reading material -- I hope. I hate digging through reading so dry one needs gin and an olive to make it palatable.

I did finish up today on the cardiac floor, which is one of my favorites. One of my friends there said she'd have brought me candy if she'd known I'd have been assigned to that floor, but since she didn't the only "treat" she could offer was pathetic broccoli and potato leftovers from a "hot potato" bar that 2nd shift had left behind.
Uhhhhh...thanks...I don't think so!!!!

You read like you have a very busy life! Sorry to hear things were stolen out of your purse before. People have no qualms about doing such things these days, it seems. Anyways, just stopping in via the next blog button and mainly wanted to say hello. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

I can't believe that parking situation is being such a bear to fix! That is just not fair to the employees.

And for the record, I have to get hubby up at 4am and I can testify that life does NOT begin here anywhere near that time! LOL

Good luck on your new path Kate, i'm sure you'll be running the joint in less than a year! ;)

Greetings, Andrew! Thanks for stopping by. Come back anytime!

Trace - I can't help but ask...can't your hubby get himself up and out the door without your help? You know, after he's late a time or two, he'd figure it out. *chuckles*

And, thanks for the vote of confidence in me!

Nope Kate. He sure can't. He's one of those people who just doesn't hear the alarm. You can put that stupid thing on the loudest setting, put it across the room and have it play construction explosion sounds and he won't hear it.

*sigh* I envy his sleeping abilities ;)

I was just going to ask the same question! What does hubby do to get himself up and out of bed when you're not sleeping beside him? (ie: away on business) I'll bet money that he just doesn't try to even concern himself with getting up with an alarm simply because he knows you will do it for him. ;-)

Kate, like Trace I think the parking situation just stinks. I sure hope it gets resolved, and soon. And congrats you have now opened a new door! :-)

Jude - good question re: Tracey's hubby getting himself out of bed when he's away. You might want to think about that, Trace! How would he get to work if you had a job like mine where you are gone before he has to get up?
