Cabin Fever

I've got cabin fever. Of course, I've also had a slight fever for real, since Robert has been sick for the last few days. I slept on the couch the night he was the sickest, and told him I was getting pretty tired of sharing virii with him. Luckily, this one was quite slight for me, not preventing me from the dentist appointment yesterday, but still creating the need to just lay around the house today.

Unfortunately, I had to miss a surprise birthday party for a dear friend's 40th birthday.

Fortunately, we've been getting snow showers and weather warnings about white out conditions and recommendations that staying home is a good thing to consider.

But, my fingers are getting pretty sore from doing little more than knitting all day.

I made a lot of progress on the baby afghan.

Unfortunately, the afghan I was working on is not the one that needs to be finished first.

In this insanity called knitting, it seems to be preordained in some obscure place that a person will do more than one project at a time. Everyone I know who knits at least semi-seriously does this. Currently I have a chenille scarf waiting for a helf a day to be finished, the important baby afghan, and the easy-to-do mostly straight knitting baby blanket. The latter is the one I work on to keep my hands busy and out of trouble with food. I can sit in front of the television, have a conversation, etc., and knit away without concerning myself with counting, or keeping track of a pattern.

This has been necessary because Robert has been home for the last four days, and will also be home tomorrow. I can't do patterned things when he's around. Robert likes to carry on conversations with anything that speaks. This includes the television, the dogs, and even himself. He carries on about various subjects, and if I'm home, he likes to know he has an audience who might occasionally interject something, even if it might be as simple as "Oh yeah?"

Thus, when I'm knitting patterns, I like to be in a more peaceful, quiet environment. So, I'm far behind on the patterned baby afghan. I'll probably have to double up next week to get it finished by my self-imposed deadline, which is next weekend. Snippet's baby is due somewhere around March 8th, and they are expecting her to deliver early. So, I'm under the gun to finish this project.

I hope no one at work gets pregnant for awhile. I want to get some other things finished besides baby afghans! LOL

My mom usually has several projects going at a time as well, so i'm thinking it's a universal 'knitter's law'.

Now as to the 'talker' issue.... i'm thinking ear plugs would be good! ;)

Man it's been YEARS since I've knitted or crocheted. Kudos for you getting your teeth health taken care of Kate. It's always great when you find a good, gentle and caring dentist. When I was reading your post about it I thought, "what was with dentists back in those days??" My first dentist appointments as a kid were horrible too, and that's also what kept ME from going back as a young adult, letting my teeth go for so many years.

No more pregnancies people, Kate needs a break from knitting!! Hee hee

What was your first dental experience, Jude?

Trace, as far as the earplugs, I've already told Himself that if we survive till retirement, he's going to have to find something to do besides hanging around the house all day watching news shows and sports, because I'll simply have to seriously hurt him otherwise! LOL
