Weird and Bizarre tip...

Okay...now this one is really strange, I admit, but it worked.

The other night we had a "June" bug fly against the living room window screen. Of course, its buzzing attracted the cats who are not declawed.

In order to save the screen from the onslaught of little cat feet, I did the usual stuff, like, shoo away the cats a few dozen times (to no avail), then tried to "flick" the bug away from the screen (also to no avail).

Then some sort of perverse idea crept into my brain. I grabbed the can of Dust-Off which I use for cleaning around the computer and gave the June bug a good blast or two.

It worked. Thud. No more buzzing, no more cats at the screen. I was afraid that I was gonna hear a crunch when I closed the windows that night, but apparently the bug thawed out and flew away.

And, there's your emergency bug tip of the day, courtesy of one of the charter members of BugHatersAnonymous.

I like that idea :) I hate spraying bug spray, the odor is horrid and I always wonder what those flying chemicals will do to a person.

We get those "June" bug/beetle thingies down here, and they give me the creeps. But we also get what they call July Flies down here too and those are just NASTY! (they're actually the pupa form of the cicada...*shudders*)

I'm glad you sprayed the bugs and not the cats.

Good idea, Kate. I hate bugspray, too. Nasty stuff.

I had a friend who used hairspray and a lighter to kill bugs. She did this in her bedroom, wherein she threw clothes all over the place in mountainous piles. I'm pretty happy to have survived that particular friend.

Cicada pupas -- ew!
