Warrior Baby Update

I haven't worked in NICU for the past several days, because it's my turn to work in Critical Care, so today was my first chance to check on my special Warrior Baby.

I'm happy and sad to report some news about her:

The sad news first - today was the first day that she cried (that I've seen, anyway) when I stuck her heel. Broke my heart, it did, in one way, but in another it tells me that she's aware of her surroundings far more than she was.

The good news - Warrior Baby has gained weight. She's now right around 1.5 pounds, or 685 grams as of this morning! I can already see that she's added a little meat on her bones; you can't see her ribs as readily as before. And she still stretches and just plain makes *you* feel good by watching the enjoyment she gets from it.

She's still living in Bay 1, so she's still quite critical, health-wise, but every gram gained is reason for rejoicing! Yay Warrior Baby! You go girl!
