Sheesh...

One of the many email lists I'm on had a letter this morning from a guy who seems to delight in forwarding things he thinks are vital for all of us to read. He sent this letter out ten days ago to some of his lists, and now seems to be resending it to the rest of his lists. He generally sends stuff that you might as well have Snopes bookmarked, because you frequent their pages almost automatically when you see he's sent something along.

Doesn't anyone have any respect for eating up bandwidth on useless stuff? (You do realize that this comment is funny in that my blithering could easily be thought of as eating up bandwidth in a useless manner!)

Today's repeat letter is about a guy by the name of Eric Julien who purports to have had a vision telling him that a fragment of Comet SW-3 will cause a tsunami on or around the Atlantic Seaboard on May 25, ten days from now. Julien claimed on his website that NASA had been in contact with him regarding this and much of it was due to the close proximity of Ascension Day on June 6 - which is, btw, 6/6/6.

When I tried to check Julien's website this morning, I found it seems to have mysteriously disappeared into that "server not found" arena. Odd. Every other site I've been to this morning seems to be working, so I don't think my computer is messing up!

Now, granted, I'm pretty darned safe here in the Midwest, from giant waves and such, but you know if you're all that worried and you live out east, you can give me a call and I'll put you up for a couple of days. It'd be great to meet you in person, you know!

Julien's website is suppoed to be here:

And, NASA did send out a press release in response.

Now, as far as Ascension Day on June 6, what the heck does that have to do with an event that's to occur on May 25? I'll freely admit that I've tried hard to forget many parts of my early religious upbringing, but from what I remember, Ascension Day was the day that all those poor souls who had died and were not quite ready to go to Heaven had their chance to leave Limbo and go sit at the right hand of God. Mr. Julien made it sound as though we needed to be prepared for all the good souls to be prepared to leave, as in the Left Behind book series.

I have to admit, I'm curious to see if our polititions will be safely away from the eastern part of the country on May 25.

And, I'm wondering what kind of religious zealots are going to be raising a fuss on June 6, 2006...because, you know, those are Satanic numbers....666 and all that!

What an interesting world we live in.
