No, that's not me being grumpy...I'm talking about odor.
The new windows look marvelous! The bad part is that the last thing the installer did was do the final sealing of the windows with some sort of waterproof, rubber-based caulk. It stinks. It's really enough to make anyone gag, get a headache, or whatever strong odors do to an individual. And, wouldn't you know it? The weather is a wee bit cool in the overnight hours; enough so that windows either have to be completely closed, or only cracked a little bit.
*coughs, chokes, holds breath as much as possible* TW suggested we wear HazMat suits. LOL Smart ass.
For the new bow window to be installed, we had to cut down some evergreen bushes. They weren't very attractive any more, so we had just left them till such time as new windows were a possibility. When that day came, the bushes went!
Today we loaded up the pick up and headed to the landfill with all the yard waste we've accumulated during both last fall's cleanup and this spring's. The truck was piled high. We drove slowly to the landfill...drove up to the gates...and they were shut. Damn! The wind was so high here today that the landfill was closed because the wind was creating more problems than not.
You might know it. We finally get a chance to get rid of the stuff that was making our place look like a visit from the trash police would be a great idea, and THEY'RE CLOSED! Argh!!!!!!
So, we threw a tarp over the stuff and Robert is going to take it out there before he comes home from work tomorrow. Works for me!
The other contractor we've hired to fix the living room ceiling was called today; I paid them 60% of the estimated cost to repair over three weeks ago and they hadn't called to schedule. I was getting a wee bit irked. I don't like to pay for something and then feel like I'm on some arbitrary waiting list because my job might not be a major remodel. But, they called me back and have scheduled for late Monday morning, so that gives me the incentive to begin repairing the wall so painting can commence very soon. I'm having some very special company this summer and I want my house to look nice, darn it!
I have a new student phlebotomist tomorrow. I don't know much about her, but she seems pretty nice so far. So, work will be fun tomorrow. I get paid for following her around and watching her stick everyone. I only have to step in if necessary. I'll fill you in later on the new girl, and catch you up on the other things that have been going on at work.
But, my eyes have been a little roughed up the last two days with computer work both here and at work, and the chemical smell in the house makes 'em feel gooey, so I'm gonne quit for now and get away from the computer screen. More later!

I remember when my parents had their windows done and once the caulking was done it could be smelled for what seemed like forever. *gag*
Special company eh? Sounds like fun. :) The only company I get is my psycho-mother!
Hopefully the final repairs will be done quickly and all settles back to normal in your home. And good luck with the new 'vampire'! :)
We had he same gross smell in the house when our windows were put in last summer too, Kate. It's horrible! But it goes away fairly quickly, so hang in there!
Just checking in to see how you're doing Kate! Hope you're well, miss you!
