There's a laser with my name on it...

March 22 I'll get to once again go under the "laser". My other cataract is finally ripe enough to remove, so for the first time in my life, I'll have "normal" vision. I won't have to wear glasses when driving, and I'll be able to indulge in sunglasses - something I've not been able to do since my contact lens wearing days! It is a little scary, though - this second cataract is on my "dominant" eye, and thus my whole world is going to be rocked for a few days while I adjust to seeing things differently. Instead of going back to work the next day, I'll take a few days off to adjust, and I've already told Kathy that I want Dean to "follow" me at work for a couple of days to make sure I can adjust to this new vision. She said there'd be no problem with that.

She was just grateful that I didn't plan on scheduling the surgery next week as we now have a new phlebotomist on the crew she wants me to begin training.

Oh...I didn't tell you all this as it happened while I was on my blog "vacation". Three of the girls in "the clique" decided to quit within two days of each other so they could create the most hardship for the lab. Now...isn't that positively childish? They seemed to think that there'd be a great impact at their leaving; but I'm sure they weren't thinking about the impact being relief that they were gone!

One girl left to take a full time job outside the university; said she was sick of phlebotomy. Another left to open a full time child care business. (Had I small kids there'd be no way I'd leave them with someone like her!) And the third just went to full time on the night shift as a phlebotomist - she was already working part-time on that shift, so now she can just have at it, and believe me, her snippy attitude won't be missed on the morning shift!

So, we'll be training at least two new ones, and one full time person from nights will be joining us back on days. I trained her and will be thrilled to have her back on days; she's a super person and a good phleb.

I'm posting a pic of the Jeep window. I meant to do it last night, but I kept getting called away and didn't get the thing downloaded - sorry about that! The pic shows the window after I put clear (yeah, right!) contact paper on the crack. You can still see where it is broken in spite of the contact paper. And, I've removed that piece and just put "strips" across both sides of the crack till I can get it fixed. That will have to wait for payday. But, the repair place said they'd be able to fix it in a day since this is their slow season. (Would you believe that the company that repairs it works with 'tents and awnings'? Yep...far cheaper than taking it to the dealership!

Tents and awnings?? LOL Well whatever it takes, and especially if it's cheaper! :-)

Great news that those idiots have left! And even nicer to know that someone you really like to work with will be coming on board on your shift now too.

I've always said if I could ever afford it, I'd like to have the eye laser thingy done too. It would be really nice to have my good vision back that I used to have, lol. Good luck with it Kate, I hope it doesn't take too much getting used to!

Yay that those pains are gone! Work will be so much nicer for you now!

I'm glad you're going to be able to get your window fixed. And at a lower cost as well. Thats great!

Cateract surgery. My grandpa had that and his vision was improved so much that he was able to see better after surgery than he had for the past 50 yrs or so at that point.

If theres anything I can do to help let me know! :)

(((hugs)))
