Pronunciation Question

I was looking at my Sitemeter a bit ago and saw a hit from Puyallup, Washington. Jeff, is that you?

I'm curious how this is pronounced. Is it Puh-YALL-up? Or is it Puh-Y'all-UP? Or am I just plain wrong all the way around?

I have to admit I'm kind of charmed by the possibility that it could be Puh-Y'all-UP. Sounds like an optimistic sort of place, doesn't it?

Nope! Mine would show from Salem, OR...Puyallup is quite a bit further North. I actually drive through there on my way to pick up and drop off my battle-buddy Mac.

It's pronounced:
PEW-all-up with just the slightest hint of a y in front of all...

It's one of those things that identifies people who actually LIVE here from tourists. Kinda like Mogollon Rim in Arizona or Houghton Rd in Tucson, or knowing what Vernor's or Koegels are in Michigan.

I've BEEN to all three places, but not LIVED there....

Of course you could be doing that just to put me off my guard....*hmmmm*.

Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world ISN'T out to get you! LOL

Now, you both probably lived in Tucson at the same time. And if you both weren't solitaries, you'd probably have met. ;) Of course, you could have and not even know it...six degrees of separation and all that.

That's quite possible....Ever hit the Tucson Solstice Circle?

Well, I went to a few TAWN meetings, and hung out with Don and Arlene Davis a few times too. They ring a bell? I think Iwent to a couple solstice circles...Oh, and I went to the Fall Fest in 1997....I lived there from late 1995 to mid 2003. You?

I bet we DiD meet and yes, those names do ring a bell, but I can't place it quite on the spot...

I lived in Tucson from 1991 through 2002 so we were there at the same times...I worked at UMC and ran my own business. Lived up in the Casas Adobes area in the NW...

I loved that Solstice Circle down by the Rillito...I miss the Rincons..I miss Mt. Lemmon...There's a lot about Tucson I really miss.
