Problems with the "Green" Movement

I just don't know. Lots of us are trying to save the planet with the means we have to do so. This can involve car pooling, using muscle power instead of fossil fuels for short trips.

It could mean a healthier nation in the long run.

One of the things that I like is the utilization of recyclable grocery bags, like this:

You can pack more groceries in these; it's like a return to the day when brown paper sacks were the norm. But these bags save trees, and eliminate the gawd-awful plastic bags, made from petroleum products, which never seemed to be packed properly, and so far more were sent home with fewer items in each. With petroleum prices skyrocketing, it'll soon cost us ten bucks a bag for those things. (Yes, I'm exaggerating - I hope!)

So, I hope we can all get used to taking recyclable bags with us when we go shopping. It will do something to help save our planet, even if it's a small thing.

But, what worries me is that an energy crisis may promote better physical health, but what about intelligence?

Maybe it's me. I'm having a real BIG problem with one of the bags I brought home.

Did someone change the Crayola Box while I wasn't looking???

No, it's not you! Someone wasn't looking :)

I use these bags as well. I love them.

I'll call you!

I have a bunch of those bags and use them for everything!

Looks like the person that mixed that particular color was actually color blind!

LOL!!! I saw these blue "green" bags one day when I was checking out at Hen House (Hy-Vee bags DO get around, don't they?) and cracked up. They seemed to me to be a wonderful joke played by some prankster at Hy-Vee. I loved 'em - I even have one of my very own now. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The joke is just too good.

But, that's just me.

I'm still getting in the habit of using the things. I try to keep them in the passenger side seat so I won't forget them. It makes me laugh, though, when I take the bags into Target or some other place and the folks there look at me like I'm weird for doing so.

No comments on the weird thing, now, y'hear?

Kate me darlin', I would NEVER use your name and "weird" in the same sentence! *wink*

I use my black "green" bags a lot for many things. AND the grocery store where we shop (major chain called SuperStore) you can buy hard plastic "buckets" for hauling your groceries in, and they are built to fit nicely in the shopping carts. We use those instead of bags normally for groceries and they make it much easier. Carrying 4 bags or one bucket. I think I know which I prefer!
