Hello, Dolly....

Just wanted to introduce you all to the newest member of our family. Meet Dolly, who is a 9 year old Shetland Sheepdog - no surprise that I'd get meself a wee Scottish 'lassie', now, is it?

We rescued her from a Sheltie rescue, where she was placed because her owner had passed away. It broke my heart to think that she'd outlived the only owner she'd ever known. She's already obedience trained, and is a lovely and very delicate lady. She does have a propensity, though for licking my toes and occasionally gnawing on them!

I'll undoubtedly tell you more about how we came to find her as time goes on. There's so many things to catch up on!

Dolly is ADORABLE Kate! What a pretty lady she is. And thank God someone like yourself gave her another chance, the poor thing. I can only imagine how sad and frightening it must be for a loving pet to lose their owner. I know that she will find a lot of love again now. A truly wonderful thing you did!

I can see why you are so happy to have Dolly. She is truly a beautiful animal. Lucky for her there are people like you , Kate, who care about the welfare of animals. But since you have always impressed me as a quality human being, I'm not surprised. Thanks for sharing her photo with us

Awww, Doug, thanks for the compliment! We are learning a lot of things that are different between Dolly and our Springers. For example, Dolly really likes fruits and vegetables. The Springers liked most veggies, and occasionally would eat a piece of apple or something, but Dolly is pickier and doesn't eat things we'd think a dog would naturally like...like cheese, for example. But tonight I was eating pineapple, and thought I'd try that out on her, and she loved it...even barked at me to hand down my plate so she could lick up the juice. *shakes head* And there are folks in the world who honestly don't think that animals have personality???? DUH!!!!

Thanks Trace! Are you back home yet or still just a couple of states away from me? You should take a detour on the way home, you know?
