Come into my office and shut the door, Kate....

...my boss said to me this morning.

Okay, what'd I do now? I took off my lab coat, hung it up and went to the office and shut the door. I wondered briefly in that way we all do in that quick mind-search if the lab tech student who'd been following me for a couple of days (and who I got very bad energy feelings from) had made some kind of trouble for me.

I asked my boss the same question. "You didn't do anything, this is good news and you'll like it, I think."

She proceeded to tell me that I'd soon be getting a letter. I was puzzled, but figured it was some oddity that the University was going to send out since my anniversary date is coming up.

Nope. My boss proceeded to tell me that her life had gotten so hectic that she was about to go over the edge if she didn't make some changes, and so she'd decided to quit teaching the phlebotomy course, but the other instructor wanted to continue with it. Now, this is the same course that I volunteered my time to in the fall semester, and would have for the spring semester, but my poor cataract eye prevented night driving.

"We missed you so much during spring sememster. And, Kirkwood said that they would take Jan's recomendation on who to replace me with, so we're offering you a job as assistant instructor at Kirkwood. Are you interested?"

UHHHHH....let me think.......YEAH!!!!

For money, even. Not sure how much, but Kathy figures it will be "well over $10/hour". I can handle that. Really. And, though I would start out just doing the same things that I did as a volunteer, Jan would like me to take over part of the lectures eventually as well. Can you believe it? Me? Kate? Teaching at college level?

Holy shit.

Now I have to learn how to do Power Point. And, now I won't/can't delay taking my certification exams. At least this won't begin till fall, so I've got time to work all these things in!

How nice to have something positive happen for a change!
